Classical Osteopathy to treat nerve pain and sciatica

No more nerve pain

It’s never fun to have shooting pains, pins and needles, or numbness across your body. At Tunbridge Wells Osteopaths, we offer personalised treatments to help you with issues such as trapped nerves, sciatica, and neuralgia.

What is nerve pain?

When you have nerve pain, you may feel a stabbing, burning pain or alternatively a decreased sensation, as if your limbs have ‘fallen asleep’. You may experience twitching in your muscles or spasms.

Severe pain that follows the path of the nerve can be caused by pressure irritation, damage or injury, infections (e.g. shingles), diabetes, and ageing. However, nerve pain can also be caused by other factors, such as a bulging disc, muscle spasm, or swelling from an injury. Osteoarthritis or growths (whether benign or malignant) may also be the cause.

What is sciatica?

Sciatica is a specific type of nerve pain. It refers to pain that occurs along your sciatic nerve, which is the largest nerve in your body. The nerve runs from the lower back and pelvis (from L4 to S3) down through the back of each leg and your feet.

Sciatic pain can range from mild to severe. You may feel a burning or tingling sensation down the back of your leg, or you could feel a dull ache. Although for some people symptoms can improve quickly, the pain may affect you for months to come.

How can Tunbridge Wells Osteopaths help your nerve pain?

Nerve pain is a common condition, affecting one in ten people over the age of 55. However, osteopathic treatment can help you.

With our expertise, we can diagnose how and where your nerve is trapped and compressed, and employ various techniques that are successful in releasing pressure from the nerve.

If we feel that you require an X-Ray or an MRI scan for further examination, then we will refer you. You are safe and supported in our hands.
