Classical Osteopathy for frozen shoulder
Stop suffering with stiff shoulders
If your shoulder has been painful and stiff for an extended period of time, it is worth visiting an osteopath for support. Our integrated treatment plans help you to recover from shoulder pain and discomfort.
What is a frozen shoulder?
A frozen shoulder can be frustrating, painful, and seemingly never-ending. You may find it difficult to move your shoulder, which can also affect your sleep. You may suffer for months, or even years, without proper treatment.
So why does it happen? Your shoulder joint is surrounded by a capsule filled with a fluid that lubricates your joint – called synovial fluid. If this capsule is damaged or overworked (e.g. due to bad posture), the capsular folds can become stuck together. This means the shoulder cannot move freely.
How can Tunbridge Wells Osteopaths help your frozen shoulder?
There are three stages to a typical frozen shoulder, and it can take at least up to 18 months to reach the third ‘thawing’ stage. You can significantly speed up your recovery through Osteopathy.
The stages of a frozen shoulder are:
-
- Freezing stage. This is when movement gradually becomes reduced and the shoulder becomes painful to move.
- Frozen stage. The shoulder has little, if any, movement available. This is very painful.
- Thawing stage. The shoulder slowly regains movement.
Quentin Shaw, lead Osteopath at Tunbridge Wells Osteopaths, wrote an article on chronic shoulder problems that was published by the British Institute of Osteopathy.
