Classical Osteopathy to treat RSI
Relief from Repetitive Strain Injury
It’s hard to avoid repetitive tasks at work, at home or playing sports. Don’t let the discomfort and irritation of RSI stop you from your daily activities. An Osteopath can alleviate your pain and quicken your recovery.
What is RSI?
Repetitive strain injury is caused by areas of the body that see repetitive movements, such as your wrists, shoulders, elbows, hands and fingers. RSI can be distracting and irritating because you most likely feel discomfort in areas of the body you repetitively use (hence the name).
RSI can come in many forms. You may feel a numb, throbbing sensation or feel stiffness and weakness in the area. Without sufficient rest, the pain can get worse over time or even throughout the day, which causes a burning, aching or throbbing sensation.
There are specific types of RSI. One is called golfer’s elbow (or tennis elbow), which occurs in the elbow and forearm, often on the dominant side of your body. RSI can also cause your tendons to become inflamed, which is called tendonitis.
How can Tunbridge Wells Osteopaths help your RSI?
At Tunbridge Wells Osteopaths we focus on treatment plans personalised to your pain and discomfort. We use specific techniques to release pain and swelling where your RSI is located.
More than treating the pain, we assess why the RSI has occurred, offer advice on how to best rest the area and how to prevent re-occurances. We look at your body’s mechanics – checking whether a weakness has been caused by a structural imbalance.
For example, when treating a tennis elbow we will focus on the way your shoulder girdle (the set of bones that connect to your arms) hangs from your spine.
Every case of RSI is different – so our treatments are directly tailored to helping you.
